Roll-A-Picasso

Roll-A-Picasso

Last week we were making Roll-A-Picasso art. What you need to do is get a sheet of wacky face shapes and you roll a dice and if it lands on six let's just say you have 2 choices. We had about 10 minutes to get all our face designs. Then we drafted it. Mrs Cutler cut up some squares and gave us a piece of A4 paper and we had to draft out our heads for our Roll-A-Picasso. Then we had to draw our face designs on the squares and we glued them on wacky like but still so you can see the face.We moved on to our good art a day after and we had to draw the exact same thing just bigger and we couldn't use the square shapes. After that we moved on to pastel where it was really tricky because pastel marks everything we had to use bold and blended colours so it would come out like this.

Landmarks

We are learning about  different landmarks around the world for literacy. This morning Mrs Cutler set out a task for us to go on google earth and search for different landmarks the landmarks were Great wall of China, Milford sound, Times square, Big Ben, Tower of London, The White house and Buckingham palace. My friends and I choose The White house and we found out that it was humongous.

Eiffel tower at night
The place that I would really like to visit is Paris because of the pretty views, and sunsets so colourful and bright like you've never seen. The wonderful restaurants especially the one in the Eiffel tower but the one place I would really like to visit there is the largest garden in Paris that is in front of the Eiffel tower.

Landmarks

This week we've been learning about famous landmarks Mrs Cutler put some landmarks on the board and we had to choose what we wanted the chooses were Eiffel tower, Taj Mahal, Sky tower, Buckingham palace, The leaning tower of piza, Empire state building, Colosseum, The white house, Great pyramid of Giza, Sydney Oprea House, and Statue of liberty and as you can see I choose Taj Mahal because I didn't know much about it and that's what we're supposed so if you don't get it your supposed to find a place you don't know and find information about it.

What is an information report

An information report is something that you use to write about other people 2 weeks ago we were learning about the famous people on the NZ money notes there was Sir Edmund Hillary, Kate Sheppered, Queen NZ money notes now the information report that my class and I did was about Sir Edmund Hillary he was the first person to climb Mont Everest the things we had to write down was his early life, name, date of birth, date of death, siblings, parents names and date of birth and death, other interesting facts that you don't have , and also why your person is on that note. So once you've got all those down you need to put them in order so name, dates, siblings and parents, early life, what they did and then other interesting facts. And that's how you make an information report

200$ creations

Today in class we made 200$ with all our own designs the famous person that I put on mine was Jacinda Ardern  because Jacinda Kate Laurell Ardern is a New Zealand politician serving since 26 October 2017 as the 40th Prime Minister of New Zealand. She has also served as the Leader of the Labour Party since 1 August 2017. The bird that I choose was a Chatham Islands black robin they are a New Zealand bird that are threatened by predation and disease. What I choose for the place background was Hamilton gardens because Jacinda is from Hamilton and she moves around a lot so I just choose something simple that I bet she likes .

Sandra Silberweig art

This is my finished one
These last few weeks we've been learning to make a Sandra Silberzweig art and I'm gonna show you how we did it it.

So first for our maths contract Mrs Cutler made a sheet for us to practice our patterns, colours, blending and also finding where our patterns go so basically we find the right spot for our patterns to go in.

And then after that about a week later we watched a video that told us a little bit about Sandra and how she gets her ideas and then the person in the video made one of their own to tell us how to do it and then we started to draft our own artwork.

So Mrs Cutler told us to make two so we could choose what we wanted and if we wanted to have both we could make another one with both of the ideas in one whole picture the drafts were really fun to make but not as fun as the real one.

When we finished our drafts and finished tweaking them Mrs Cutler gave us a piece of yellowish whitish cardboard feeling paper and told as to put our designs on it very lightly and do all of our art on it the paper was pretty big so we had to make our art huge but still it's art who doesn't like art.

Okay we got to the black out lining which we used Indian ink for that and the teacher told us to do thick and thin lines so it would like really cool and it would make look different also with the Indian ink we coloured in our spaces that we wanted black.

After we all finished the Indian ink and let it dry for a couple of days we started to use the pastel colours but first we had to sit on the mat to listen to the instructions Mrs Cutler told about the cold colours warm colours primary colours and secondary colours so we went off and started blending like dark blue and light blue red orange and yellow and also all the other colours this was awesome to do and you will just have to wait to see the finished.

A moment in time

I heard: rocks falling, children talking, feet stomping, voices echoing, the wind blowing through the trees.

I saw: rocks, the sky, trees that are so hot they are dropping, children, ground that is very sturdy, shadows from the sun.

I felt: scared, excited, nervous, happy, horrified, frustrated, overwhelmed.

I wonder: Why did they make the school so far away?.

Marine Mining

Marine Mining is a very bad habit for our fish and sea creatures also bad for the our, Kaimoana . Sometimes people just don't realise what their doing or how their doing it but sometimes they just do it as they please and they don't even care about the environment like if some one told them to stop they will just keep on going . So if you still want our environment to be safe for our kids in the future than stop doing wrong and do right for the environment.

Mahi Tahi

Mahi Tahi is a night that we like to do to show off our work to our parents. And also brag about how much learning we did during one term . Each and every term we have a Mahi Tahi so they can see what learning we do. At the first Mahi Tahi for 2019 instead of showing our parents our work for the whole night we decided at 5:15 we would gather in Piwakawaka so the students would be teachers of our parents. And watch them how they would do an activity with other parents and how they would use communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. The four C's which we use for our own Mahi Tahi for the year,5,6,7,8 but it's not when look at each others books. It's when we come together and we get into groups and we get given a task and we have to complete it by 15 minutes.
This Tuesday we did baking because it was the night that we were having Mahi Tahi.

PMI

W.a.l.t  We are learning about pests and threats to the NZ environment.  I read Designed for Good which is about why pest traps are made.

P . That their trap
works and they will kill all the pests hurting our environment

M . That sometimes other
animals go for the trap.

I . The trap can work longer because the lure lasts for 6 months now when it used to only be a month.
